.. Birding, hiking, playing & exploring

Early morning start.   I had to shower and pack and move suitcases from David and Ruth Ann's airbnb (since they were flying out today) to the Fiess's so we could get moving on to the subway to get to .. Yeouido Saetgang Eco Park for a guided birding tour.    We all said our goodbye's and headed out for adventure!
Again, we were successful in navigating the subway train challenge!

When we emerged from the subway station this is what we saw :

We met our birding host and gathered with others including a gentleman from Vancouver, British Columbia.   Binoculars and daypacks were readied for the hike through Seoul's first ecological park, which is in central Seoul, an oasis in the middle of an important area that includes the National Assembly, Korean Stock Exchange, many large corporate headquarters, and Korea's three broadcasting stations.

After awhile, Jeanette and I and the kids decided to walk over to the general park area to find some play structures.  This was a large open area with a C-47:

This was a huge park.   Many many office workers were walking through the park and finding benches and seating areas to relax and enjoy their lunches.

It was getting to be lunchtime so we headed over to the large IFC Mall (International Financial Center).     Three floors of shops and restaurants.   We opted for ... McDonald's .. it was time for more familiar food.    After lunch we headed over to Young Poong Books, one of Korea's largest bookstore chains.   Here's Jeanette reading some books to the kids in the children's section :

Matt met us at this store and we headed to the subway station for the ride home.   After a little rest we headed out via subway to meet Jon & Salli for dinner consisting of mackerel fish, rice, kimchi, pancake, seaweed, boiled egg, and a few other delicacies.

After dinner we hiked up a mountain to Jon & Salli's apartment for the kids to see and play with their three cats.

look at the maze of wires in the alley !

Tomorrow - it's the science center and maybe another park.
